The grit separator combined with a grit washer is a device that combines the functions of both devices. The incoming mixture is retained in a whirling layer where the separating and washing processes take place thanks to centrifugal and gravitational forces. After settlement the grains of washed grit are pushed towards the outlet, lighter parts are carried to the overflow.
