The design of the control valve trim is concentric grooves (or teeth) machined on the face and the back of a series of stacked circular disk (called a stack), which also acts as a retainer seat. The separate legs of a disk of another, provides the correct distance between the individual discs for easy assembly, the entire stack is tack welded into a unit and held concentric in a conventional balloon or angle valve body.
